 Protests and the Peach Festival

The genocidal destruction carried on by Israel and the United States against the Palestinians has reached a level of inhumanity that has not been seen since Stalin and Hitler murdered their unsuspecting victims. Unconscionable is the word to describe those in power who promote this catastrophe and those who look the other way. One cannot call it a war because those being massacred have no armaments and no control over their source of supplies and shelter. When and if the horror ends, a greater terror will follow in the shape of an antithesis to the thesis.

There is a swelling of revolt around the world against those conducting the genocide. The young protesters face thuggery by the thought police while the adult citizenry write “uncommitted” on their ballots. An American wrote: “I did not ask for my country to be complicit in the ongoing genocide and attempted eradication of the people of Gaza and Palestine. I do not want to be complicit in the genocide of anyone. I do not want this crime to stain the name of the United States of America whenever it is spoken for the next century and for all eternity, and to bring shame upon me and my descendants, and to all others who hold American citizenship.” Israel and its organizations and lobbies in the United States are “stealing the United States and dominating all narratives, all public policy and decision making in both the public and private sphere to the benefit of Israel. . . . The global network of sayanim (collaborators) and the parallel organization of shadow ‘advisors’ or ‘minders’ whose job it is to remain in the faces of our elected and appointed government officials guarantee that legislation promotes the interests of Israel.” The 20 year-old who tried to kill Trump is found to have tracked Trump and Biden on the internet to see where they would appear in public. No motive, authorities say, can be found, although it stares them in the face. Youth see the deaths of Biden and Trump as justified for their guilt in the massacres of Palestinians. Protests can become uncontrollable. Authorities warn that thousands may be killed at Taylor Swift concerts. And, locally, a young man is caught with a loaded gun at the Winona Peach Festival where hundreds of children await their turn on the circus rides.

The scholar Omar Bartov, who studied the conversion in the German population under Hitler to Nazism, is finding the same impulse in the Israelis becoming Nazis today. The thousands fleeing Israel resemble those who fled Germany, although the mainstream press reports that they fear for their safety rather than credit them with a conscience.

Australian journalist Caitlin Johnstone observes: “Everything about Israel is fake. It’s a completely synthetic nation created without any regard for the organic sociopolitical movements of the land and its people, slapped rootless atop an ancient pre-existing civilization with deep roots. That’s why it cannot exist without being artificially propped up by nonstop propaganda, lobbying, online influence operations, and mass military violence.”

Candidates Harris and Walz are in a quandary. Dare they disown the Biden support for Israel in order to win the votes of the protesting millions and the presidency? In her recent TV interview Kamala Harris sang the practiced refrain that Israel has the right to defend itself and blamed the Hamas attack on Israel for the catastrophe while lamenting the loss of Palestinian lives. The spending of AIPAC and Jewish organizations in the millions that defeated progressive congressmen and elected Zionists doubtless influenced her reply. Trump already has billionaire support and may accept millions from Sheldon Adelson’s widow in exchange for turning the West Bank over to Israel. Adelson earned his money from casinos and slot machines into which bored seniors poured their quarters to while away their final years. In this way the world ends for some and with a bang for others.
